ADHD and the military

Some parents may hope to help their children avoid a military draft, while others may feel the armed services provide a good opportunity for their kids who crave structure. Does a diagnosis of ADHD or learning disabilities exempt a person from duty? The Attention Deficit Disorder Association outlines the relevant Department of Defense regulations, and finds that while the diagnoses do not necessarily preclude military service, medications prescribed for them do.
