Have your kids had head lice?

Sunday July 24, 2005
There are some camp souvenirs you'll always treasure -- little crafty things, tie-dyed t-shirts, memorable photos -- and others you'd rather not ever let into your house. Head lice are chief among the latter, and their camp experience consists of pitching a tent in your child's hair and refusing to go away. If your home has been transformed into Camp Louse, there are steps you can take to send those little buggers packing. Tea tree oil is a natural, pesticide-free potion to try. Suffocating your unwanted guests with mayo or olive oil can also be effective. And even if your child has sensory integration problem, nit-picking is always part of the solution. If your child is wondering what all the fuss is about, these resources can help fill the time spent at home until a nit-free head can be returned to camp. Whether you're battling the bugs now or have traumatic memories of it, answer our Question of the Day and tell us: How often, and how awful?
