Family must choose which child gets a kidney
Thursday December 29, 2005
Two sisters with polycystic kidney disease and only one parent who's a compatible donor adds up to a heartbreaking choice for a British family. Preston Quinn, father of three-year-old Kenzi and two-year-old Kori, had hoped to save his kidney donation for his younger daughter, but with the older girl failing and in immediate need of an organ transplant, and no donor kidney forthcoming, he is donating now and hoping that someone else will step up for Kori. The girls' mom, Gillian Graham, is not a match. The family is encouraging people to register with organ donor registries to help others in their situation.
