iPods are calming, amusing, and a little bit cheaper now

Thursday February 9, 2006
If you've thought about getting an iPod to be a little source of portable calming and amusement for your child, but been put off by the price, now's a good time to think again. The cost of the smallest iPod -- a pack-of-gum-sized iPod Shuffle that can hang around your child's neck, and eliminates the distraction of screen and playlists -- has come down to $69 from $99. This 512 MB model holds 120 songs, and although I'd hesitate to call anything indestructible, I will say that my hyperactive FASD 12-year-old has had his for more than six months and hasn't broken it yet.
