Question of the Day: Katie Wernecke
Saturday June 3, 2006
Remember Katie Wernecke? The 13-year-old was in the headlines last year when she was removed from her parents' custody because they disagreed with her doctor about her cancer treatment. She was ultimately returned to her parents, who went back to pursuing alternative treatments for her condition. According to a story in yesterday's Houston Chronicle, she's now receiving a treatment so secret that her family can't reveal what it is or where it's taking place. And that has medical professionals clucking again, and her doctor thinking once again about turning the family in to Child Protective Services. Do you think authorities should even consider removing Katie from her parents' custody again? Click on a response below, and use your browser's back button if you want to select more than one.
