Photos and videos show off kids with special needs

Thursday August 17, 2006
Check this space every Thursday morning for a little pick-me-up of photos and videos on Flickr, You Tube, Google Video, and other spots around the Web that feature children with special needs. Last week's entry included links to photos of special-needs kids walking, biking and camping. This week, check out:
  • A photo tour of a camp for children with special medical needs sponsored by NASCAR drivers.
  • At another camp, kids with disabilities learn how to lose the training wheels.
  • A little guy with spina bifida "gets the John Lennon treatment" in "Beautiful Boy."
  • Don't you just feel like this sometimes at school concerts? Ian gets a little rest while his sister sings.
  • Wonder how kids with dyslexia feel about reading and writing? It's frustrating!
Do you have photos or videos of your child on one of these sites, or anywhere on the Web? Post the address in a comment below, and I'll consider featuring it in a future blog entry like this one.

There’s always something heartening when you see kids with special needs being given special treatment by organizations or companies. these kids must be given the chance to taste a feel what other people have experienced. Their handicap must not be a reason for them to be exempted.
