Toys R Us Toy Guide for Differently Abled Kids
Wednesday September 27, 2006
Just in time for starting-to-worry-about-holiday-gifts season, Toys R Us has come out with a toy catalog just for parents of children with special needs. Each plaything in the 52-page book is accompanied by one or more symbols to help you match them to your child's abilities and needs: auditory, language, visual, tactile, gross motor, fine motor, social skills, self esteem, creativity, and thinking. From the interactive online version, you can page through the catalog, click on things that interest you for a closer look, and then click on the stock number to go right to that item on the Toys R Us site and buy it. It's nice of the toy giant to put together a resource parents can use to find toys that really fit our kids. But while the selection and the symbols are helpful, maybe the most gratifying thing about this catalog are the beautiful photos of happy kids with special needs, playing with toys just like any other child in the world.

I just discovered these toys from Toys R Us. Thank you, Thank you Toys R Us for this. Am the grandparent of a 8 year old cerebral palsy boy and it is so hard for him to play with toys. This is wonderful; I can’t help but feel its to good to be true.
