Farrelly Brothers to translate "I'm With Stupid"
I'm With Stupid, the BBC show mentioned in a September special-needs entertainment news entry, is coming to the U.S., where it will be made into a series by the Farrelly Brothers, a comedy duo known for outrageous humor, often involving the disabled, not often involving what you would call sensitivity. According to a report on Ragged Edge Online, "'Stupid' centers on a down-and-out guy who befriends a young wheelchair user and winds up moving into his group home. Yes, that kind of group home. The show (well, the British version, at least) is funnier than it sounds. The pilot for the BBC 3 original earned kudos in Britain last year for its multidimensional portrayal, and perhaps even better yet, it's casting of people with disabilities which eventually led to a six episode series last Summer." Also involved in the project is the producer behind The Office (U.S. version) and Ugly Betty, and the first episode is being penned by a former Friends writer, which makes for an interesting assortment of sensibilities. Whether this Stupid is something we'll want to watch with our kids or hide from them remains to be seen.

A&E home makeover show features blind designer
Has anyone here watched Designing Blind on the A&E channel? It's apparently in its second season of a) surprising the people whose home is set to be redecorated with the fact that the designer is blind, and b) making them wear blindfolds, too, as they work on their home. It sounds like a bad Saturday Night Live skit to me, but maybe it really is disability-consciousness raising. If you've seen it, please report your impressions in the comments.

Fun with iPod
If your family is like mine, iPods are one of your primary sources of entertainment. You may want to dress yours up for a little Halloween fun, but pre-made costumes can be pricey, and if you've waited until now to order one, you're probably out of luck anyway. Fortunately, The Unofficial Apple Weblog offers last-minute, bargain-basement ideas for iPod apparel that don't take much more than a tissue and a marking pen. Boo!

Got a hot tip or a question about an upcoming special-needs entertainment offering? Drop a mention of it in the comments and I'll check it out.
