Titled "You Are Not Alone," this collection of materials from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is designed to help parents "encourage and assist [teens] in taking responsibility for themselves, while at the same time helping them accept the limitations on their freedom and choices that may be necessitated by the seizure disorder." Readable or downloadable from the site are a letter to parents from the parent of a teen with epilepsy; a parent's guide with suggestions on using the kit materials; a "Reach Out" brochure to help parents with their relationships; a "Reach Out" guide to parenting resources and support groups; stationery for writing notes to teachers and other adults who come in contact with the teen; an audio file that let parents overhear three typical parent-teen conversations from a teen perspective; and a "You Are Not Alone" video that follows families of teens with epilepsy.
