Site of the Day: Parent to Parent USA

Friday March 23, 2007

Email support groups and online message boards can provide a lot of information, support, and companionship for parents of children with special needs, but sometimes you really need an actual person, in the place where you live, to share or struggle or strategize with. P2P USA is a nonprofit organization that coordinates parent-to-parent programs to provide that person-to-person contact between needy families and trained supporting parents.

On the site, you can find a program in your area, or learn how to set one up. You'll find research on the effectiveness of parent-to-parent programs; technical assistance for recruiting, training, and matching; a FAQ on how the programs work; and links to other supportive sites and organizations.
