Site of the Day: CarePages.com

Thursday May 10, 2007

CarePages offers a place for people with special health-care needs and their families to write about their experiences, share details on the progress of treatment, and offer inspiration to those dealing with the same disabilities. The site was in the news recently with a CNN story on the blog of a teen with cancer, Miles Levin.

You'll find a link to Miles' blog on the CarePages home page, but to read it or most of the other pages here, you'll need to join, giving your name, a password, and a few other small pieces of information and agreeing to terms of service. It's worth it to have a look around and read the stories of so many special-needs families; you may find information on treatments your child is pursuing, and fellowship in reading about others dealing with the same struggles. And you may be moved to start your own pages, easy to do once you've joined.

The site was started by the family of a child with congenital heart defects, but has grown to encompass a wide variety of disorders. A special page on CarePages Moms might be a good place to start this Mother's Day week.
