Site of the Day: ADA Virtual Grocery Store

Tuesday June 12, 2007

While you can't actually buy groceries there, the Virtual Grocery Store on the American Diabetes Association site is a good way to learn more about what you'll be buying when you travel to your local monster mega market. Click on a department, then on a type of food, and you'll get nutrition labels showing calories, fat, and other facts, as well as tips from the ADA on using those foods as part of a healthy diet.

The Virtual Store also includes recipes, meal planning assistance, advice on stocking a pantry so you'll always be ready to cook, and a feature that allows you to make a shopping list out of the recipes provided. Besides being helpful to you as you plan safe meals for your child and family, it's also a good place to play with your child to teach good habits young.
