Friday Book Club: The Parent's Guide to Speech and Language Problems

Friday July 20, 2007

Every Friday is book review day for the Harried Parent's Book Club, and today's selection, The Parent's Guide to Speech and Language Problems, is a comprehensive look at all the things you can do for your language-challenged child, from enriching your home environment to kicking some insurance company butt.

The broad range of issues and action items offered here can get a little intimidating, whether you're just starting to face your child's problems or living with regret for having handled them not so very well. But the engaging text, personal experiences shared, and empowering suggestions make the book a helpful reference for dealing with therapists, IEP teams, specialists, and your own sweet challenged child.

Read the Book Club review, then stop by the Harried Parent's Book Club Forum to add your opinion and ask questions. Coming next Friday: Autism: Asserting Your Child's Right to a Special Education
