Are You Happy With Your Child's Report Card?
This past week has been Report Card week around here, and all in all, we're a happy family.
I had been worried about my son's grades, because I fell for that old trick of asking the teacher to send home any test he failed, and then worrying because the only test grades I ever saw were failing grades. When I asked the teacher whether he was going to fail his classes, she reassured me that he had other grades that were better, and sure enough, the report card bore that out. He's doing well -- room for improvement, sure, but satisfactory nonetheless.
My daughter's grades for this first marking period came in about as expected. The two classes she struggles in are the two with the lowest marks, but she's still passing with a C and that's OK with me. There were some nice, higher-than-anticipated scores in other classes, so again, it's an encouraging start to the year.
