Site of the Day: Access Firefox

Wednesday January 16, 2008

Computers promise so much to children with special needs in terms of easier communication, broader access to information, and increased exposure to others who share their experience. Sometimes, though, getting the most out of computers can be hard for kids with vision impairments, physical disabilities, or reading problems.

Access Firefox is a site dedicated to helping users with disabilities to customize the Firefox Web browser to suit their needs. There are links to extensions that read text, make images larger, help you do more with a mouse, and change the appearance of Web pages. The site also offers a blog and a forum for further discussion of accessibility adaptations.
