Site of the Day: Complex Child Magazine

Thursday February 7, 2008

Whether you're interested in reading or in writing about children with special needs, the new monthly online magazine Complex Child is one to bookmark.

Intended "to provide medical information, along with personal experiences, in simple language that other parents can understand," the magazine offers articles "on a wide variety of topics ranging from basic information on medical conditions and treatments to advice on how to beat insurance company denials."

Submissions are welcome on "any aspect of caring for a child with special health care needs," including "personal stories, commentaries or editorials, and information about caregiving, education, and advocacy."

Articles in the first issue include articles on fundoplication, and sections on respiratory issues, urology/nephrology, insurance and Medicaid, and advocacy and disability. Though the archives are small at the moment, this promises to be a great reference site for those dealing with medically complex kids.
