If your child learns better when words are read out loud instead of presented only on the cold hard page, ReadTheWords.com may be a useful tool for enriching learning and enabling repeated hearings of material. It may also save you from having to read things endlessly into a tape recorder for your child to listen to.

Once you sign up for the free service, you can bring text into it -- from word processing documents, pdfs, Web pages, RSS feeds, or your own typing fingers -- and have it translated in minutes into a computer-voiced reading. That reading can then be listened to online or downloaded into an iPod or MP3 player.
