Site of the Day: Asthma Mom's Glossary

Wednesday May 21, 2008

When your child is diagnosed with special needs, you suddenly become a scholar on whatever's happening to that kid. And once you've learned a thing or two, the natural next step is to share it with others. That sort of exchange goes on every day on message boards and e-mail lists and blogs, and sometimes it gets gathered together into a neat package like this one.

Asthma Mom is a blog by a non-asthmatic mother of a child with asthma, and in her glossary she's gathered together several blog posts filled with definitions of everything from Allergen to Wheezing. It's written in Mom-speak instead of Med-speak, and is therefore practical and comprehensible. At the end, author Amy Anaruk writes, "I don’t claim expert knowledge so much as I pass along what helped me, in case it might help you." As do we all.
