Site of the Day: Brett Banford on
So You Think You Can Dance

Friday May 30, 2008

I don't keep up on reality TV very well, but Pamela Wilson from BellaOnline's Special Needs Children Site alerted me this morning to the fact that a young man with Down syndrome competed last night on Fox's So You Think You Can Dance.

The judges didn't find 25-year-old Brett Banford eligible to continue in the competition, but they praised his efforts, and he got his wish -- to "represent" for people with disabilities.

You can watch a video of Banford's segment on the Disability News site, along with a partial transcript of the judges' comments. The video includes an interview with Brett and his mother, a look at his participation in special Olympics, and his performance and judging. His dancing looks pretty good to me!
