Give a "Dad Book" for Father's Day

Friday June 6, 2008

Don't look now, but Father's Day is just about a week away -- June 15, to be exact, a week from this Sunday -- and if you're still trying to figure out the perfect gift for that special special-needs dad, may I suggest you browse through a gallery of Dad Books to find a memoir a father can relate to.

Some are straightforward remembrances, like Jeff Stimpson's Alex: The Fathering of a Preemie, pictured; others add research to the mix. But all bring a male point of view to the topic of parenting children with disabilities.

Then again, if your husband's like mine, probably the best gift you could give is some sort of "Get Out of Reading About Our Child's Problems Free" coupon. But those, I'm saving for the last minute.
