Nor Do I Want to Hear It in Church, at a Restaurant, or on a Plane

Friday July 18, 2008

I'm reluctant to give Michael Savage any attention for spouting his opinions on autism being a scam, and the kids so affected being brats with weak parents. His "opinions" are all about stirring ratings-raising outrage, and publicity feeds it. Besides, I've been ranting too much recently about inclusion and exclusion and toxic attitudes toward children with disabilities.

So I'll just say this: If I had a choice between listening to a child tantrum out of control for hours, or a talk-radio know-it-all bluster for ten minutes? People, without a second thought, I'd choose the kid.

Crying is just annoying for as long as it's going on. Hate talk from adult bullies? Festers.

I heartily agree. The child generally isn’t trying to cause problems, the child generally doesn’t have much choice in the matter at the time… and one would think that the man knows what he’s doing. Makes me wonder which one needs the constant, one-on-one support and guidance more, the child who is doing their best, or the man who evidently just wants to be hurtful, deliberately.

I usually find that it is pointless to try to change the minds of bigoted idiots such as Denis Leary et al as they are a) so full of their own importance that they will never accept that they could possibly wrong about anything, and b) they are usually just trying to get a reaction by being as outrageous and unpleasant as possible. They are, when it all boils down to it just overgrown bullies and aren’t worth wasting one second of angst over. Personally I feel kind of sorry for them, what a wonderful world they are missing out on, total sad sacks!
