And So the Celebrity Crushes Begin

Well, okay, if you want to be technical about it, I suppose this marriage would only be happening in my son's dreams. But he does have a mighty crush on the girl, and I hear about her nonstop all day long. In case you live in a non-Nickelodeon universe, she's Miranda Cosgrove, who starred as a bratty sister on Drake and Josh and now as a Web star on iCarly. And if my guy's going to be replacing the car posters in his room with posters of a girl, I'm happy it's one who keeps her clothes on.

Crushes on girls -- there are a couple of young ladies at school that he obsesses about when he's not obsessing about Miranda Miranda Miranda -- is one of those signs that adolescence is fast upon us, and in more than just height and hair and lowering of voice. He may be delayed in other areas, but the hormones are working.

On the other hand, he and his buddy regularly write "No Girls Allowed!" in chalk on our patio, and wage anti-girl wars with a couple of female friends, and talk gigglingly about flushing girls down the toilet (yes, that Flushed Away obsession is still going strong), so there's a lot of five-year-old in the fellow yet.
