Push Vocabulary Over the Summer

Looking for a quick and painless summer project? Choose a batch of vocabulary words and drill them with your child a little bit every day. Pick words from a book or ask a teacher for suggestions. Buy flashcards or make them yourself, or put words on a big keyring to tote around. There are also sites like Free Rice that make vocab a game. Using the summer to strengthen language -- even five or ten minutes a day -- can give your child a foot forward for the fall.
