Site of the Day: CHADS Coalition for Mental Health
What It Is: "CHADS Coalition for Mental Health is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to advance the knowledge and prevention of adolescent depression and suicide through awareness, education and research."
Who's In Charge: "Larry and Marian McCord founded CHADS Coalition in memory of their son Chad. He was 18 years old when he took his life on April 15, 2004. In October 2003, he was diagnosed with depression and an anxiety disorder. Several months later he was diagnosed with OCD (obsessing to hurt himself) and rapid cycling Bipolar Disorder."
Why It's Worth Checking Out: Teenage depression and suicide is something every parent has to worry about, especially those of us dealing with kids who may have mental-health challenges. CHADS offers facts, resources, and support to help you recognize trouble and deal with it.
Where to Start: Visit the statistics page for some pretty sobering information.
