Weekday Reflection: Seeing

Tuesday July 7, 2009

Read: "The experts say Joe has such multicomplex needs, and they use such multicomplex phrases to define him, it's hard sometimes to know what they see, but it's not what I see." -- Nia Wyn, Blue Sky July, this week's featured book.

Reflect: Do the experts who work us see my child the way I do? How can I make them understand what I'm seeing?

Respond: To help you articulate the view you have of your child, try filling out a Positive Student Profile. Although intended for school use, it's also not a bad thing to develop for new specialists or therapists, to make sure that your child is more than just a list of deficits.

Every weekday, take a moment to read, reflect, and respond to a passage from a book, blog, or article. ... More Reflections
