Site of the Day: The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon

Monday September 7, 2009

What It Is: The 44th edition of the famed fund-raiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association is live from Las Vegas yesterday and today.

Who's In Charge: "MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education."

Why It's Worth Checking Out: Though not without controversy, Lewis's annual telethon is one of the highest-profile special-needs fund-raising efforts around. From the site, you can donate, find out where your money goes, learn more about MDA services and research, and take a look back at telethon history.
