What It Is: "Running from November 1-December 31, 2009, the Christmas Angel Tree is our most important fundraiser of every year, and historically also corresponds to the highest number of children finding their 'forever families' as well. There is no shortage of families wishing to adopt children with Down syndrome, only a shortage of funds to do so! Our goal is to raise $1000 or more for each of our nearly (200) waiting children with Down syndrome."

Who's In Charge: Reece's Rainbow is an adoption ministry that advocates for waiting children with Down syndrome in international orphanages and lightens the financial burden on families wishing to adopt them. According to the site, "By raising money to offer adoption grants on waiting children, we are able to give adoptive families the extra financial help they need to bring a child with Down syndrome home from a miserable existence in overseas orphanages. Our Sponsorship Program provides a unique opportunity for anonymous donors to contribute to the adoption journey of our families."

Why It's Worth Checking Out: When you make a donation to the Christmas Tree Angel Project, all but $5 goes to the sponsorship account of a child you select (the $5 goes to shipping and administrative fees and the overall work of the organization). If your donation is $35 or more, you'll get a porcelain photo ornament of the child you contributed to, making this a great family project or special gift. Look through the pictures together and let your child pick a child to help.

Where to Start: Read about the program and then look at those little faces.
