Site of the Day: Hopeful Parents

Follow me on:

What It Is: "A grassroots community where parents who understand what it's like having a child with special needs can connect. Consider it a pit-stop in the marathon -- where we can go for attention to our wounds, where we can re-energize our way back on track, where we can look right and look left to see others running too, where we can hear the roar of the crowds cheering us on. Hopeful Parents is a place of common ground."

Who's In Charge: Hopeful Parents was started by Christina Shaver, "a transracial-adoptive mother of an older boy with a host of special needs and biological mother to a neurotypical younger boy."

Why It's Worth Checking Out: The site offers a listing of blogs that share a hopeful outlook on special needs, as well as a forum for more immediate discussion.

Where to Start: The "About" page.

(1) Christina Shaver :

Thank you so much for mentioning our site! We have 30 writers, each of whom writes a different day each month. Our kids have all sorts of special needs from mild to severe. We are here to support each other and find other parents who have kids with special needs.
