App a Day: I've already mentioned two augmentative communication apps in our month-o-apps marathon here -- Proloquo2Go and Voice4U -- but since every child has different needs and preferences, having a selection of communication-aiding apps can only help families find the right solution. OneVoice is an iPad-only app that, according to its site, "does less than most augmented communication devices. Why? Because making it easy to use is far more important than making sure it has every possible feature." It's designed to be quick and straightforward to use right away, with options for customization and advanced use. Whether that's going to be freeing for your child or limiting will probably depend a lot on age, ability, and frustration tolerance.

OneVoice is $199, and from the site you can read more about it and follow a link to find it on the iTunes store. If you've used this app, fill out a review form to add your own take -- or to share another Apple or Android app we should know about.
