A Little Uplift for Those Downhearted Days

Take a Day OffIt's not been the greatest week for me. Nothing big or bad, just small annoyances. A huge vet bill. Followed by a huge plumbing bill. Followed by a trip to the dentist that ended with the words "root canal." The kind of things that put a dark cloud over your head even though you know, in the greater scheme of things, they're not such a big deal. We parents of kids with special needs are supposed to have our priorities straight in this regard, but still, the small stuff just gets you down sometimes.

If you've got a little black cloud of your own this week, for no good reason or a bunch of little bad ones, I've got a couple of new articles that might cheer you up. First, I made an index of all my fun and inspirational printables, including mini-posters like "IEP Alert Levels" and "Take a Day Off" and Love Notes for Special Parents. Take a look through, and maybe you'll find something you can print out, pin up, and look at when you need a boost. I'm also honored to be able to share some of the adorable children's artwork from this year's All Kids Can CREATE exhibition by VSA and CVS Caremark All Kids Can. Hard to hold on to a frown when you page through this slideshow of kids' responses to the theme of "What Inspires Me."

Has your child done something inspiring? Share on the Readers' Respond page for "Look What My Kid Can Do" or the one for giving thanks for your child with special needs. On the other hand, if you just want to join me in a pity party, share your tale of minor but nonetheless annoying woe in the comments. It's that kind of a day.
