MasksHappy Halloween! If this is a day you've looked forward to for months, and your cherub is all ready for costuming and candy-gathering, be sure to snap a picture and share your costume inspirations on the Readers Respond page. On the other hand, if extreme weather or finicky sensory systems or general procrastination have delayed your assemblage of a costume for tonight, check out my listing of emergency last-minute costumes you can throw together in a pinch -- they won't be winning any Best Costume awards, but they'll keep your child covered and sort of theme-ish. Once the trick-or-treating's done and all those goodies are back in your home, take advantage of these ideas for using up all that over-the-top sweetness, and share your own means of safe disposal.

The only ‘safe disposal’ method I have to mention is with respect to peanut-containing candy… Since I’m the only one in the family who isn’t sensitive or outright allergic to peanuts, I get to enjoy all of the little peanut-filled chocolate bars!

I have good news there – well, sort of good news. The number of candies I have to eat, to save my family from the peanutty goodness, is getting smaller and smaller every year, to the point where I only got to have 4 mini bars tonight. While that means I don’t get as much of a treat, I am so very glad that people in our area are understanding that it really is an issue, and that it doesn’t take much time and effort to choose peanut-free goodies. :) I am so proud of my neighbours!
