Your Comments on Catholic Schools, Shortness, and 'Parenthood'

By January 18, 2013

Follow me on:

KeyboardAre Catholic schools missing the boat when it comes to students with special needs? One commenter to a post on the subject thinks so, in all capital letters, while another gives some reasons for why that might be happening and offers advice to parents trying to get those schools to hop aboard. A parent responding to a post on "Is Being Short a Disability?" describes the struggles her four-foot-nine-inch 16-year-old son is going through and laments, "Being a parent and not being able to help one of your children is a terrible feeling," something most of us can certainly relate to. Parenthood -- the TV show, that is -- got some praise from a 76-year-old grandmother who responded to a post on the show's Asperger-syndrome plotline with admiration for the show, the characters, and the young actor who plays Max.

New messages have been posted to the forum this week as well -- from parents asking about borderline personality disorder, self-esteem and learning disabilities, and 504 plans for gifted kids with ADHD. If you have some advice to share on those topics, stop by the forum and help out. And don't forget that your comments about your favorite special-needs resources are needed on the nomination forms for this year's Readers' Choice Awards.
