Fragile X Syndrome

Definition:

Fragile X Syndrome is a genetic condition involving a mutation on the X chromosome. Though it's more commonly seen in boys, girls can also be affected by Fragile X, and both males and females can be carriers of the gene. Fragile X can cause cognitive disabilities and autism, and it is recommended that any child with developmental delays be screened.
