"Early Support is the Government programme to achieve better co-ordinated, family focused services for young disabled children and their families. It's a national programme that is being introduced and used in local authorities, hospitals and community-based health services across England." Even if you're not in England, there are resources on the site that can be downloaded by anybody anywhere.

6. The "R" Word Campaign

If you're concerned with the use of the word "retard" in general, or in the movie Tropic Thunder in particular, now may be a good time to check out this campaign and add one of its buttons to your blog or website to spread the word that the "r" word hurts.

7. Change for the Children Foundation

Current teen heartthrobs The Jonas Brothers are the swooned-over faces behind this charitable endeavor, which seeks to give kids a chance to help other kids by donating to one of five chosen causes. Two of those charities deal with diabetes, and youngest brother Nick writes on the site about his experience living with Type 1 diabetes.
