Definition:

Intellectual disabilities refers to a developmental disability marked by limited intellectual and social functioning. An IQ below 70 is generally required for a diagnosis of intellectual disabilities, along with a lack of age-appropriate daily living skills. Some people with intellectual disabilities can learn the skills needed to work and live with minimal supports, while others will require a significant level of services throughout their lives.
