What I Made

Nothing - but found a great T shirt at Target:

THIS IS MY COSTUME

Solved the entire problem of costume in one fell swoop!

He even wanted to wear it after Halloween!

How I Made It

I didn't have to make anything. I simply handed my VISA card to the nice lady at Tar-Jay. [Editor's Note: Similar shirts are available online; check PriceGrabber and CafePress for a variety of designs.]

Tips & tricks

  • Make sure to pass out a candy that your child does NOT like, as it is easier to see a non-preferred treat going to other kids rather than a big favorite!

Terri Mauro, Children With Special Needs Guide, says:

Finding a storebought T-shirt that works is a great solution, Cathy! Last year my son and his friend wore "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" T-shirts from Universal Studios. Comfortable for them, and requiring no craft skills on my part, which is a good thing.
