Why I Started
I started my son's blog during a long stint in the PICU last year.
I was inspired by a friend who made a wonderful blog about her special needs son. I want people to know about my son and to understand that quality of life is about something much deeper than what you can and can't do.
How I Do It
There are times that I blog a few times a week and times I let it go for a few weeks. Sometimes I just put up pictures and sometimes I get into a lot of detail. I don't share about my marriage. There was a time during our long hospital stay when I started this blog that I wrote about some frustrations I was having with a nurse, who I did not mention by name. The next thing you know the unit manager was coming in to talk to me about it. I kind of felt violated. This blog was meant for me to share my experience and for people who are interested in my son. I did become more inhibited about the detail I share because you never know who is reading it.
Advice
- I highly recommend it. It is very fulfilling. I haven't done so yet, but there are sites that let you turn your blog into a book. What a great keepsake that would be!
- Just don't write things that you don't feel comfortable with ANYONE knowing about.
