Why I Started
For many years my friends and family encouraged me to write a book about all the stories that occurred while raising Peter. After watching “Julie and Julia” I was motivated to blog and with the help of Kelly, I started a blog site. This story which began almost twenty three years ago is a tale that has changed my life for the better. A living story that brought tears, but more than tears, joy, and the realization about what is really important in life. I want to share the story, the tale, the opportunity to tell about the life I have experienced with my son, Peter.
How I Do It
I try to blog every day, however, sometimes there is a day or two in between the blogs. I do include the names of my children and friends who all the know the stories and who have had an impact on my life and my children's life's.
The focus of this blog is really about telling the experiences I have had with my son, relating my own philosophy in how I have handled a very special child. I have a group of followers and I also post my blog on Facebook where I have more readers. I have received very positive feedback from one mother who recently gave birth to a child with Down's syndrome and many 20 year olds who find the blog as they say "addictive".
Included in my blogsite are pictures that relate to the story which I have scanned into my computer. I also have included a playlist of some of Peter's favorite songs.
Advice
- I say "just do it." This is such an easy method of conveying thoughts. I was inspired by the movie "Julie and Julia" which gave me the impetus to start. I found my daughter's sister-in-law's blog helpful when I was getting started and she was also very helpful in giving me ideas and direction.
