How Long It's Been Online

since May 2009

Why I Started

I started writing notes on my Facebook page about things going on in my life. With three boys, I had a lot to write about. My middle son is on the autism spectrum, and I felt like I had more to write than I could in one Facebook note. I found a site called Hartley's Life with 3 Boys, and she started a blogger network of parents writing about their kids with SPD. I started my blog, joined her network, and have been writing ever since.

How I Do It

I write two to three times a week. I write a lot about what goes on in our house on a day-to-day basis, and how we deal (or don't deal) with it. I try to view it all from a positive perspective. My blog is about my kids and me as a parent.

Advice

  • My advice is to just start it and start writing. It doesn't matter if you're a professional writer or not, just starting putting it down on paper (or computer). Writing has been my therapy -- getting the words in my blog helps me process my thoughts so I don't vent it out on the people I love. Write from the heart, and chances are there are 10-20 people out there who will find a connection with what you have to say.
