Why I Started
When Rain Hurts is the story of how our Russian adopted son Peter came into our lives, the series of events that led us there, and my successful journey toward loving him, while accepting and adjusting to the fact that I can’t substantially heal him. Peter suffers from FAS, Autism, Seizures, BiPolar Disorder, PTSD, attachment issues and suspected Mitochondrial Disease. He is also, on most days, our beautiful and loving boy.
I undertook this project because I felt demoralized after reading the plethora of adoption- and autism-related books on the market.
How I Do It
I blog about twice a week and I am painfully honest, perhaps too honest, but I am working out my own feelings and also trying to help others who may have similar struggles. There are lots of pictures of our kids and the rest of our family. It is very personal, but I hope not overly so and I hope people that read it can see all the love our family has and how hard we try, even though we aren't always successful.
Advice
- I'm really using this blog to develop a book project that I hope to have published. I'm trying to gain feedback/insight that will help me in this endeavor. The blog also keeps me writing due to the great encouragement I've received. I feel so strongly about this project.
