A book to give you confidence!
- I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! In fact, I love all of Jennifer Cook O'Toole's books, as she is in the unique position of being Aspie herself and so is able to impart such insight to us parents. Before I came across this book, I was a mum who adored her son but didn't always 'get' him -- his responses and reactions would catch me out, and although I could recognise his distress, frustration, fear etc. etc., I couldn't always see why they'd happened. Believe me, it was so frustrating, as although I knew I wasn't tuned in as much as I wanted (and indeed he needed) me to be, I just didn't know how to sort it out... and then I found this book! It provided such clear, practical, sensible words of advice. The language used is accessible, the advice is do-able and the results are clear. I understand my son better now and am able to connect with him more. I'm by no means the perfect mum now, but I'm certainly a lot better equipped in terms of understanding and confidence, and that is sooo valuable!!
