From the article: Keep a Big 'Bag of Tricks'
A long wait at the doctor's office. Slow service at a restaurant. An endless car ride. A few too many homework problems. That moment where a tantrum is coming on fast, but can still be diverted. These are the times when parents need a big "bag of tricks" -- a deep supply of items and ideas that can fill a moment or turn a head. I've shared some of the things I've toted -- what's in your child-wrangling bag of tricks? Let Us See Inside

Everyday

I have found that my daughter loves to have plenty to do as she is now 10 years old and growing up. I have lots of different types of books and different types of colouring pens and pencils, so that she can try different ways of creating. Also, ds and a game and some snacks and a drink. This gets updated on a regular basis so that she has something new.

What is in my bag of tricks?

lots of stress balls mp3 and head set small games with balls that you have to move around to get into a whole. books crayons our nintendo ds (tap to talk system included) our v-tech Tons of sensory toys. We have 3 bags one in each vehicle and one placed in the front hallway to take with us when we are going somewhere new. (with different things in it our child doesn't see all the time). We also have a bag ( we use the grocery bags you can get at your local grocery store the reusable kind) we only take on vacations or overnights at hotels. We keep these things and it makes for great experiences and great quiet time for us.
